Luis Dominguez is a Systems Integration & Test Engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he has been employed since November of 2007. In 2017 & 2019, he was named as one of the “20 Most Influential Latinos in Tech” by CNET en Español. He studied Mechanical Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and works testing the electronics & software for robots that explore space. He was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles to two immigrant parents from Latin America, his mother is from Mexico and his father is from Honduras. He is currently serving as the Deputy Electrical Integration & Test Lead for the Mars 2020 (M2020) Assembly, Test, & Launch Operations (ATLO) team. Although he loves technical engineering analysis and programming his primary drive in life is helping others.
Ever since he started working for JPL/NASA Luis has used the bully pulpit afforded to him to talk to, inspire, and mentor youth all around Los Angeles through presentations and other programs. In his spare time, Luis loves to play soccer, talk to kids, ride his bike, read books, and watch documentaries & YouTube videos. His life’s motto is immortalized in the words of Howard Zinn, “You can’t be neutral on a moving train….”
